MEISENHEIMER ON LEADERSHIP
Leadership is one of the greatest and most worthy challenges you will ever undertake. Most leaders, however, never consciously decide to lead. For instance, my company took off and I started hiring employees. I became an unplanned and untrained leader, by default – perhaps you can relate.
Years later my company’s growth stalled. I read lots of books, got lots of advice, tested lots of ideas, but nothing helped. It wasn’t the economy, it wasn’t the industry, it wasn’t the opportunity, it was my leadership. In truth, I wasn’t really leading at all; I was only managing. I later discovered that managers don’t grow businesses, leaders do. But I didn’t actually know what a leader did.
Come to find out, all the books and philosophy I had been learning only discussed what a leader IS, or what a leader must BE – but I needed to know what a leader must DO!
What I learned over the next twenty-five years, I now help others achieve rapidly. I learned that there are three critical functions of a leader. If you can master these three steps, you can lead any organization. They are to decide:
1. WHERE the company is going 2. HOW it will get there 3. And then to EXECUTE with precision
Is this simple? Absolutely! Is this easy? Absolutely not!
Most companies’ leaders never successfully complete the first critical function making functions two and three irrelevant.
I invite you to read through the articles in this site. You will get a clear picture of what it takes to lead an organization. And you will quickly decide whether you believe in what I'm saying or not. If you do, and you want more, visit my website called The Effective Leader where I systematically show you how to perform these three critical functions in your organization – plus a lot more.
You will never see anything else like it, and you won't believe the price. You will become the pride of your company’s people, and the most sophisticated leader in your industry.
As I said in the first sentence above, “Leadership is one of the greatest and most worthy challenges you will ever undertake.” Don’t waste a decade (like I did) trying every random technique by trial and error. Become the effective leader you have always wanted to become. Your followers will be thrilled with your choice.
